American Coffee Lovers Win Presidential Debates with Day-After Dollar Coffee at 7-Eleven® Stores

Cast Your Votes in the 7-Election™ Presidential Coffee Cup Poll!  Preliminary exit polling reveals that the clear winner after each 2016 Presidential Debate will be American coffee lovers. The day after the three presidential debates, 7-Eleven will offer fresh-brewed coffee in its extra-large 7-Election™ Stay-Hot Cups – for just $1. The limited-time offer is available at participating locations. Pricing may vary by store. Tax where applicable.

"Democracy is brewing at 7-Eleven, one cup of coffee at a time," said Laura Gordon, 7-Eleven vice president of marketing and brand innovation. "After watching the informative debates, we encourage every American to come in the next day to choose their favorite party in exchange for a great deal on coffee."

2016 marks the fifth quadrennial 7-Election Presidential Coffee Cup Poll. The campaign invites 7-Eleven customers to "cast their cups" by purchasing coffee in specially marked 7-Election Stay Hot Coffee cups – blue Democrat, red Republican and, new this year, a nonpartisan, purple Speak Up cup. Even on ordinary days, the cups are value priced at or between the regular retail prices of medium and large 7-Eleven hot beverage cups.

"We think $1 coffee is an All-American perk that cuts across party lines," Gordon added.
Coffee lovers can "vote" through Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8, simply by purchasing coffee in a 7-Election cup. Each post-debate vote will count toward the ongoing 7-Election campaign totals. In each of the previous 7-Election polls, a staggering 6 million cups (ballots) were cast, and results in each accurately predicted those in the "real" elections.

Be sure to tune into one or all of the 2016 Presidential Debates, upcoming debates are scheduled as follows:

Oct. 9, 9 p.m. EDT, at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
Oct. 10 - $1 7-Election Coffee Day
Oct. 19, 9 p.m. EDT, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Oct. 20 -- $1 7-Election Coffee Day

On Election Day, Nov. 8, 7-Election cups are also $1 in the 7-Eleven app.

7-Election cups are instantly tabulated at the register when the sale is made – and national, state and major city results reflecting the percentage of the three cups sold to date are posted daily on www.7Election.com.

Additionally, 7-Election cups count toward the retailer's 7Rewards® "Buy Six, Get the Seventh Free" drink offer available on the 7-Eleven mobile app in the United States. In addition to coffee, the 7Rewards program includes 7-Eleven Slurpee®, Big Gulp® and Chillers® drinks.  https://www.7-eleven.com

Sip Tea Save Elephants

Elephantea, a groundbreaking range of handpicked tea from Ceylon, Sri Lanka, is now being sipped and enjoyed by consumers around the country.  The deliciously big flavors manufactured in the Golden Valley of Bogawantalawa are combined with a passion for doing good - a percentage of the profit generated from the sales of elephantea is used to fund non-profit organizations based in Sri Lanka to help raise awareness and create proactive changes as to the plight of elephants and to spearhead action to prevent poaching, harboring and harming of Sir Lankan wild elephants.

The elephantea herd is led by entrepreneurial father-daughter duo, Ron and Shani Atapattu. Moved and feeling the need to create awareness and proactive change after a trip to Sri Lanka, Shani approached Ron about founding a socially responsible tea company to assist in the conservation of Sri Lankan elephants. This is how elephantea started!

“Our family trickles down from generations of tea growers and elephant activists in Sri Lanka,“ said Ron Atapattu, co-founder of elephantea. “All of us at elephantea are humbled and honored by the opportunity to make a real difference in helping these majestic animals thrive and roam free.

”Sri Lanka’s ideal elevation, cool winds and soft sunshine contribute to making elephantea one of the finest teas in the world. Ceylon tea is known for its high quality and rich tradition, and elephantea is no different. The elephantea selection includes a variety of organic green and black teas, as well as noncaffeinated teas such as chamomile.  Boxes of 20 bags sell for $4.99 at Amazong and Walmart.  Click here for list of retailers in your area selling elephantea.

“Sri Lanka has such a vibrant culture and delicious varieties of native Ceylon tea, that it was a natural fit for us to bring our vision to life of creating the best tea with a strong socially responsible vision,” said Shani Atapattu, president and co- founder of elephantea. “Our commitment to preserving its beauty for generations to come is the driving force behind everything we do at elephantea.”  For more info or to make a purchase, visit www.elephantea.com.  #SipTeaSaveElephants

Stumptown Coffee Roasters Offers Rare
Red Gesha Grand Cru Coffee

Stumptown Coffee Roasters, just last month, released its first Grand Cru coffee offering of the year, the alluring Colombia Mauricio Shattah Red Gesha.

During a recent two-month coffee buying trip in Colombia, the Stumptown team uncovered this small batch from coffee producer Mauricio Shattah. The unique characteristics of this Red Gesha result from years of Shattah’s meticulous cultivation and careful processing. It’s one of highest scoring coffees that Stumptown has cupped this year.

“We’ve been fanatics for the fabled Gesha variety for ages, so we are always on the lookout for this rare gem,” notes Stumptown’s Director of Coffee, Andrew Daday. “Mauricio Shattah’s Red Gesha marks the pinnacle of his crops and of our Colombian offerings this year.”

A coffee receives Stumptown’s coveted Grand Cru designation if it stands out on the tasting table, bursting with rare and extraordinary sparks of flavor. The Gesha coffee variety is renowned for its unusual cup character.

Stumptown is offering the elegant Red Gesha coffee for purchase as whole bean coffee and as a bottled Cold Brew, notably marking the first time that Stumptown customers will be able to taste the same Grand Cru coffee brewed two ways.

Sparkling, elegant and complex, the Red Gesha bursts with juicy notes of watermelon and rose water with a hard candy sweetness. This limited roast is available exclusively through Stumptown’s website (www.stumptowncoffee.com).  12oz Bag MSRP: $75.00

Cold Brew Coffee

Last year, Stumptown offered a Grand Cru Cold Brew for the first time. This year, Stumptown is offering the Red Gesha Grand Cru Cold Brew in its signature stubby bottle, with a limited edition design.

When brewed without heat, the smooth and complex Cold Brew reveals tasting notes of bergamot, dark chocolate and candied orange. Available now in Stumptown cafes and select retailers while supplies last. 10.5oz Bottle MSRP: $8.00

ITO EN Makes FORTUNE Magazine's
"Change The World List" 2016

ITO EN, the world’s leading green tea beverage company was ranked #18 by FORTUNE Magazine’s “50 Companies That Are Changing The World”. The 2016 list recognizes companies that have made significant progress in sustainable, scalable approaches to address social problems as a core in their business strategy and innovation. Companies were ranked based on the three criteria of measurable social impact, business results and degree of innovation.

Recognized for growing new jobs in Japan’s struggling farming sector, ITO EN has been driving the Tea-Producing Region Development Project, an enterprise that puts the country’s 400,000 hectares of abandoned farmland and its unemployed workers to use. Partnering with regional farmers and governments, the company helps stimulate local economies by bringing technological assistance to revitalize dormant farms, develop sustainable procurement practices and nurture a new generation of tea farmers as old farmers retire.

“The ITO EN Group is extremely honored to be included in FORTUNE’s Change the World List,” says Rona Tison, Sr. V.P. of Corporate Relations for ITO EN (North America) INC. “Creating shared value and enhancing the sustainability of our society and environment, lies at the very heart of our business. Our commitment and initiatives are long-term, as we strive for positive change in the world.”

FORTUNE also recognized ITO EN for their recycling of tea leaves, transforming 49,000 tons of used tea leaves from their beverage production into 50 million cardboard boxes for its own products annually. The company has developed more than 30 recycled products in partnership with companies manufacturing building materials, vending machines, benches and household goods.

ChariTEA Partnership Benefits Smile Train

Tetley from the house of Tata Global Beverages and Tata Trusts together are contributing $1 million to Smile Train, an international children’s charity with a sustainable approach to cleft care. The donation will be used to help supplement Smile Train’s sustainable model, which provides training and funding to empower local doctors in over 85 developing countries to provide 100 percent-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.

Each year, over 170,000 children in the developing world are born with a cleft lip and/or palate deformity. Without the corrective surgery that many families cannot afford, these children often face social isolation, are unable to speak or eat properly and, in some cases, are not allowed to attend school. Cleft repair surgery, however, is simple and the transformation is immediate.

"Smile Train is extremely proud to partner with Tetley and Tata Trusts. This important partnership will help provide new smiles and the opportunity for new lives for 4,000 children with clefts,” said Susannah Schaefer, CEO, Smile Train.  “As we expand our efforts in the developing world and build capacity through our sustainable model; we look forward to continuing to change the world one smile at a time with the invaluable support from this partnership.”

To further build on the milestone partnership with Smile Train and the Tetley brand philosophy of ‘spreading moments of warmth,’ Tetley is launching a global digital campaign, “The Tetley Smile Challenge” (www.TetleyUSA.com/SmileChallenge) to raise awareness among consumers about Smile Train and invite their participation. The campaign, which stems from the idea that a smile has transformative power, uses innovative facial recognition software to digitally capture consumers’ smiles as they view humorous and engaging video content.

“Tata Global Beverages’ vision is to create magical beverage moments, and a smile on a child’s face is certainly magical,” said Ajoy Misra, MD & CEO, Tata Global Beverages. “We are very happy to be partnering with Smile Train on this initiative. Tetley is Tata Global Beverages’ largest brand and, through this partnership, we hope to positively impact many thousands of children and bring alive the Tetley brand’s philosophy of spreading moments of warmth. For 175 years, the Tetley brand has brought many a smile to our consumers and, with this partnership, we now have the opportunity to take it beyond the consumer and create positive community impact, as well.”

The Tetley Smile Challenge will be open for consumer participation through October.  For more information about Tetley USA and its partnership with Smile Train, visit TetleyUSA.com and follow the brand on Facebook (@TetleyUSA), Twitter (@TetleyUSA) and Instagram (@TetleyTeaUSA).
